“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16.
The landscape of America seems to be shifting. Some may say that sin is abounding in our nation, the presence of darkness is increasing. Is the presence of darkness increasing? Or is it that the light is decreasing? In other words darkness only exists if light is absent. We the church are the light of this world and if it seems that the world is getting darker, than maybe we need to check to see if our light is getting dimmer. Where light is present, darkness must flee. The problem is many of us are not letting our light shine. United States seems to be on a mission to silence the Christian voice, to dim our light. Many churches are trying to be like the world, to so call "win the world." But if there is no contrast in the church from the world, nothing that seperates us from the culture of the world, than what will attract those looking for change. Why will they come to something that they are already in.
We must be a light, a contrast to the worlds system of doing things. We must be a representation of Christ in our actions and words. Our love for one another should be proof that we belong to God.
I want to encourage everyone not to hide their light but let it shine. Scatter the darkness.
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
